This romantic comedy was the second biggest box-office hit in 2001 with younger viewers going crazy over the movie. The rights to remake the movie was sold off to DreamWorks SKG for 750,000 dollars, accoridng to Shin Cine. Jessica Bendinger of "Bring It on" and the TV series "Sex and the City" is reported to be writing the screenplay for the Hollywood version. One evening, Gyeon-woo is seated near a strange drunk girl on a subway. She starts throwing up, and Jeon, who is mistaken as her boyfriend by other passengers, is forced to take care of her. As a matter of course in a romance film, they develop a friendship, which later turns into love. But then, if they just went straight to love, the movie would be pretty boring. In fact, the very thin line between friendship and love that the potential lovers walk is what makes the audience yearn for their romance. A non-Korean audience can also learn about Korean youngsters' ideas about love, though the couple in the movie are far from typical, at least less so than the ones found in most sugarcoated love stories. > |
