After working together on Kung Fu Fighter and Kung Fu Chefs, director Ken Yip and F4 member Vanness Wu team up for the third time with their first horror film The Haunting Lover. This time, the two are joined by Jacqueline Li (Blood Brothers), former Morning Musume member Kago Ai (also in Kung Fu Chefs), and Hong Kong horror film staple Law Lan (Troublesome Night series) in this haunting love story that transcends the human realm.
Vanness plays Leung Kwong, an out-of-luck youth in 1940s Guangzhou who gets the chance of a lifetime when a local medicinal manufacturer hires him. However, he realizes that the factory owner hired him because of his likeness to his third son, who's been missing for the past ten years. Even worse, Leung runs into one strange incident after another in the factory until he's rescued by the mysterious Fu Yong (Jacqueline Li), who believes that Kwong is indeed the missing son. Later, he decides to go to Singapore with his girlfriend (Kago Ai) to investigate the case, but he slowly finds himself falling in love with Fu Yong, which in turn causes him to fall deeper into playing the role of the missing man. |
