the man behind such films as I Wish I Had a Wife and My Mother The Mermaid, presents Bravo, My Life, a winning coming of age story set in South Korea during the late 70s and early 80s. Also known by such alternate titles as I Love You, Malsoon and Mommy Dearest, the film centers on Gwang Ho (Lee Jae Eung), a fourteen-year-old middle school student who goes through life largely unaware of the political turmoil occurring all around him.

As the young man grows slowly into sexual maturity, he begins to dislike his mother Malsoon (Moon So Ri, from Oasis and Peppermint Candy), a door-to-door cosmetic salesperson who actually wears a lot of make-up herself. Gwang-Ho's attention soon becomes focused on Eun Sook (Yoon Jin Seo, from All for Love), an assistant nurse who rents a room in Gwang Ho's house and starkly contrasts with his mother, Malsoon. Disliking his mother's job immensely, Gwang Ho finds himself growing closer with Eun Suk, eventually developing a full-blown adolescent crush on her.

At the same time, he expresses his dismay at the mentally challenged Jae Myung (Kang Min-Hee), who seems to follow him around like a lost dog. Absorbed in his own teenage melodrama, Gwang Ho pays little attention to the dramatic events of the day, like the president's death, and instead becomes intrigued by a chain letter he receives. With the letter's warning that "President Lincoln was assassinated because he didn't pass on a lucky letter," Gwang Ho begins sending it around to others, including his mom, Eun Sook, and Jae Mung. But when all three ignore the letters, bad luck seems to rear its ugly head. Is it due to the chain letter? Or something else? Discover the truth in Bravo, My Life, director Park Heung Shik's expertly constructed, sensitively told rumination on the innocence of childhood
