Located in neighboring districts of Seoul, the Mapo and Seodaemun police stations have a long-running rivalry when it comes to cracking cases. Mapo station chief Jae Sung (Park Joong Hoon) is known for his fearless crimebusting. Seodaemun station, meanwhile, has just brought in elite police academy graduate Wei Chan (Lee Sun Kyun). Both Jae Sung and Wei Chan are aiming for the "Officer of the Year" award given to the officer who apprehends the most criminals. The competition between the two cops heats up with the 30 million won prize and bragging rights on the line, but they're forced to work together to catch a serial rapist.
In the nineties, Park Joong Hoon starred in the buddy cop classic Two Cops, a landmark blockbuster in Korean commercial cinema. The acclaimed actor is back on the beat in 2011 with Officer of the Year, and this time his rival partner is Lee Seon Gyun (Petty Romance). Written and directed by Lim Chan Ik, Officer of the Year (a.k.a.The Apprehenders) throws two feuding cops together for some good ol' fashioned crime action and comedic antagonism.
