Sugiyama and Nagamine start investigating the murder of a hockshop owner. Even though Tomabechi from Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is impressed with their performance, the main suspect escapes during the investigation. Meanwhile, Sugiyama rushes to hospital to visit his ailing wife as her condition suddenly deteriorates. When he arrives, however, he finds his mother in law - Yoshie taking his three children because of distrust of Sugiyama.
