A dark melodrama about a woman whose life descends into a downward spiral due to love, ill fate and recklessness. Adapted from Muneki Yamada's novel, the TV version comes in the wake of the movie of the same name, which starred Nakatani Miki in the lead role.
It’s 2006. The dead body of 56-year old Kawajiri Matsuko (Uchiyama Rina), is found in a downtown apartment where she lived alone. Asuka (Suzuki Emi) is surprised that she had an aunt by the name of Matsuko. Her father tells Asuka to clean up Matsuko’s place. In Matsuko’s trash-filled room, Asuka discovers a photograph. Why did someone, surrounded by her family looking so happy, had to be killed?Asuka starts to follow Matsuko’s life.
It’s 1973. After graduating from a national university, Matsuko became a junior high school teacher. During a school trip, she covered up for a student who was caught stealing. But she suffered disgrace for her actions and was expelled from school. Driven into a corner, Matsuko choked her physically weak sister Kumi (Watanabe Natsuna) to death and fled from the house she was born and brought up in. Matsuko’s father, Kozo (Shiomi Sansei), always doted on Kumi while he was severely strict with Matsuko. However, this was just the beginning of the downfall of a woman named Matsuko Kawajiri…

I dont think they cast the right actress for the leading role. In this area, I found that the movie fares much better. I will also be looking forward to see how the same actor stars as the male protagonist from age 16 to 48. Pass. |

Watched ep 1. Very sad dorama indeed. Great acting from Uchiyama, but I will not continue with this one. |

original dorama, quite new things explored in it. I think uchiyama rina did quite well. Her young sister was so kimoi!!! But some of her reactions here were too much sudden! she feels depressed so she strangles her sister, she feels betrayed she kills a man, she receives lots of dirty money so decides to destroy it .... I mean give this fucking money to the poor!!! what a waste. And I think she is too much unfortunated to be true. exaggerated! But it's not a bad dorama! an alternative one. |

Uchiyama Rina does a very good job of portraying the character and emotional struggle she goes through. Could've done better on the artistic directing but it's only a drama. Is a nice contrast to the movie version, which is wackier. |
